About Universal Virtue

UNIVERSAL VIRTUE BUDDHIST CHARITIES
“Visiting those in hardship and caring for the sick constitutes service to the Buddha.”

Universal Virtue Buddhist Charities was founded in 2006 by Reverend Thích Nữ Hoa Tâm, a Buddhist nun, together with Buddhist followers in Southern California, with the aspiration to ease the suffering of the less fortunate in Vietnam and to support communities in the U.S.

Universal Virtue brings together people who care deeply for the poor and unfortunate in their homeland and who wish to do concrete work to help. Our volunteers serve with a spirit of transparency, selflessness, and religious inclusiveness.

Since its founding, the organization has earned the trust and support of many benefactors, volunteers, and fellow community members. Today our programs include relief for the poor, disaster victims, and patients without means, plus $10/month sponsorships for studious poor children, lonely elderly, and people with disabilities.

The organization operates openly and professionally, with a Board of Advisors, a Board of Trustees, and an Executive Board, together with many volunteers working to ensure transparency and effectiveness in all charitable activities.
